A new asphalt driveway, built from the base up. Whether it is a short drive in town or a long run out to a house in the East Mountains, we grade it to shed water, compact a solid base and pave it with clean, straight edges.
Summer storms put a lot of water on the ground in a short time. A driveway that is flat, or that pitches toward the garage, collects that water and starts to lose its edges and base. We set the slope before anything else.
Soil matters too. Where the lot is loose sand we add and compact base so the asphalt does not settle. Where caliche is close to the surface we cut it to grade so the asphalt is the same thickness all the way across.

For a long gravel drive, paving the whole length in asphalt is not always the best use of the budget. Some owners pave the apron and the area near the house and chip seal the rest. We are happy to price it both ways.
You can walk on it the next day. Most cars can park on it after two to three days. In hot weather give it a little longer, and for the first few weeks avoid turning the steering wheel while the car is standing still.
Yes. Tear-out and hauling of old concrete, asphalt or gravel can be part of the job. It is listed on the estimate.
Asphalt is smoother and cleaner looking. Chip seal costs less and suits long rural drives. Tell us how you use the driveway and we will recommend one.
