Asphalt Resurfacing & Overlays in Albuquerque

If the base under your pavement is still solid, a new layer of asphalt over the top gives you a fresh surface for a fraction of the cost of tearing it all out. We will tell you straight whether your pavement is a good candidate.

What resurfacing includes

  • An honest look at the base and the type of cracking
  • Repair of any failed spots before the overlay
  • Cleaning and a tack coat so the new layer bonds
  • Matching transitions at doors, garages, gutters and the street
  • New hot-mix asphalt paved and rolled

When an overlay works, and when it does not

An overlay is a good fit when the problems are on the surface: fading, raveling and small cracks over a base that is still holding. It is not a fix for a failed base. If the pavement is sinking, rutting or broken into small pieces, those cracks come right back through new asphalt.

Where only some areas have failed, we repair those first and then overlay the whole surface, so you get the price of an overlay with a sound section underneath.

Questions about asphalt resurfacing

How much height does an overlay add?

An overlay raises the surface, so transitions at garage floors, doors and gutters need planning. Where height is a problem we can adjust the edges so the new surface ties in cleanly.

How long does resurfacing take?

Most driveways and small lots are done in a short visit once the prep is finished. We give you the schedule on your estimate.
