Why the same spot keeps failing

Most potholes start with water. It gets through a crack, softens the base, and the asphalt above it loses support. On freezing nights the water expands and makes it worse. Filling the hole with cold patch hides the problem until the next storm.

A lasting repair removes the broken asphalt, fixes or replaces the base underneath, and fills the area with compacted hot-mix asphalt. Then we seal the joint so water cannot get back in.

Repair or replace?

If cracking covers most of a surface, patching every spot can cost more than an overlay or a new surface. We will tell you where the line is for your pavement.

Do you use cold patch?

For lasting repairs we use hot-mix asphalt. Cold patch is a temporary fix for emergencies.

Should I fill cracks before winter?

Yes. Cracks that are open going into freezing weather tend to grow. Filling them in the warm months keeps water out of the base.
